Problem Summary

Issue
User needs to modify, update, or add a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) sign-in method.
Resolution
Follow the steps below to update your MFA methods:

Go to https://myaccount.microsoft.com
- Alternatively, log in to https://office.com, click your profile icon (top right), and select “View account.”

In your account dashboard, locate the Security Info section.

Click “Update Info” within the Security Info box.

To add a new method:
- Click “+ Add sign-in method”
- Select your preferred method (e.g., Authenticator app, phone)
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete setup
Expected Result
The user successfully adds or updates their MFA method and can use the new method for secure sign-in to Microsoft 365 services.
Cause
This is typically a user-initiated change for improved security, device replacement, or to resolve access issues with existing MFA methods.
Additional Information
- MCC strongly recommends using the Microsoft Authenticator app for the most secure and convenient sign-in experience.
- Users can configure multiple MFA methods for redundancy (recommended).
- If you lose access to all methods, you may need to contact support for account recovery.
