Reporting Junk Email

Users need a way to identify and report suspicious or unwanted email messages without interacting with potentially malicious content.

Resolution

Report a Junk or Phishing Email on the Outlook Application

  1. Open the email you want to report.
  2. Tap the ⋮ (More Options) menu in the upper-right corner of the screen.
  3. Select Report Junk from the menu.
  4. Choose the appropriate reporting option:
    • Junk – For spam or unwanted marketing emails.
    • Phishing – For emails attempting to steal personal information, passwords, or other sensitive data.
    • Block Sender – To prevent future messages from that sender.

Report a Junk or Phishing Email on the Web

  1. Hover over the email you want to report.
  2. Right Click the Email.
  3. Select Report .
  4. Choose the appropriate reporting option:
    • Junk – For spam or unwanted marketing emails.
    • Phishing – For emails attempting to steal personal information, passwords, or other sensitive data.
    • Block Sender – To prevent future messages from that sender. (This Option is right below Report)

 

Expected Result

The selected email is reported according to the option chosen, helping improve spam filtering and protecting users from potentially malicious messages. If Block Sender is selected, future emails from that sender may be automatically blocked or redirected according to system policies.

Cause

Users may receive unsolicited spam messages, phishing attempts, or other unwanted email communications that require reporting to maintain email security.
